Ashes victory for England: Final moments and Twitter reaction

It’s a great morning for cricket fans, that is if you’re an England cricket fan. The news that England has taken victory at The Ashes in Australia is sweeping the Internet and social networking sites such as Twitter. If you want to know more about the final moments and Twitter reactions to what went on then read on!

Yesterday we posted an article about Graeme Swann tweeting about the imminent victory and today that victory is complete but a look at an article by Mark Mitchener over on BBC Sport gives us a great idea of the last stages along with Twitter remarks from various commentators. The coverage of the fifth day of the test as it happens shows us some great Twitter comments along with jokes about the Australian team in the lead-up to the final wicket when Tremlett bowled Beer and England won the fifth test by an innings and 83 runs, to win the Ashes 3-1.

The BBC’s Tom Fordyce tweeted, “”Wallop! Farewell, Michael Beer’s stumps, hello Ashes glory. There ain’t no party like an SCG-club party….”. Tweets also came in from fans watching the triumph although later former England cricket star Andrew Flintoff also sent in a comment on Twitter saying, “I thought the presentation was awful. Forgot Cooky’s medal, no champagne, no individual medals. The boys deserved better than that! Disgraceful!”

There are some great comments to take a look at so check them out at the BBC link above. You can read more tweets from Twitter with reaction from fans at this Twitter page here. Are you a cricket fan and if so what are your thoughts on this historic win? We’d like to hear from you so please do send us your comments.
