There has been plenty of news circulating around the Mac App Store. We reported moments after it went live that you could access the store after downloading the new OS, we also informed you of an error that was hitting people, the error 100 with details of how to resolve the problem.
Since then, Apple has released a statement to give an insight as to how the Mac App store is doing. Take it how you will, the stores sales have surpassed the 1 million marker after just over 24 hours. We at OSM think 1 million on day 1 is a very solid start, especially with the teething problems the store had. Some of the people leaving comments on Engadget’s article by Richard Lai seem less than impressed.
One of the comments that we have picked out is from ‘Kitty Krew’ and they said ‘1 Mil in one day for apps really does not seem all that impressive. Apple had the user-base already; people just had to click on the giant download button.’ In some ways you have to agree.
Others such as Dave Caolo of Tuaw.com are in agreement with us, that this is in fact a brilliant start for Apple. Steve Jobs has even said that the response the Mac App Store is getting is incredible. You can read some of the other things said by Jobs in their press release.
If you are stuck for which apps to get on your Mac then maybe we can help. OSM’s Debbie Turner earlier today has written an article on 10 of the best apps that have made their way to the store. If you are still a bit unsure of how to use the Mac App Store, head to the bottom of this article and there is a guide from YouTube.
What do you think of the number of downloads after 24 hours? Are you impressed or disappointed? Let us know in the comments below.
