Infinity Blade: The Fastest Grossing App Ever On Apple’s Devices!

Epic Games’ massive title Infinity Blade has sliced away all of the competition to become the the fastest-grossing app ever to be unleashed on to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The fantasy game was released a few weeks back and stormed to success, clawing in over £1 million in the first 4 days of it being on sale. Tech Watch has informed us that Appmodo worked out these figures by taking the 271,424 users registered in Apple’s Game Centre leaderboards at that time; then they multiplied this by the cost of the game, $5.99 (£3.49 in the UK) to get a grand total of $1,625,830 (£1,025,000).

The role playing game’s formidable sales figures have highlighted the success of the gaming industry today, where games are easily outselling films and music. Cnet has given an excellent example of this by pointing out that Call Of Duty: Black Ops took 3 times more in sales than Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows did on its opening day at the box office. Naturally the comparison is not fair as games cost more and are available from almost everywhere; however it gives you an idea at the sheer size of the gaming industry.

Infinity Blade will continue to sell because of the life like graphics and gameplay, despite the fact it is on a mobile device. The game has even amazed Apple CEO Steve Jobs who has praised the graphics and said the game makes the most of the 960×640-pixel retina display on the iPhone 4 and new iPod Touch. Have you downloaded and played Infinity Blade yet? If so, tell us what you think of it and if it is worth it by leaving us a comment.
