It’s almost Christmas, the time of year when traditionally we turn to thoughts of the NORAD Santa Tracker, Christmas game apps and reindeers using GPS. OK, so these might be modern traditions but what could signify Christmas more than the Nativity story. Well how about a Nativity story using social media.
A modern-day web version of the Nativity tale has been produced and tells the story using Google searches, Facebook updates and tweets and the video has been such a hit that it’s been viewed over 600,000 times in its first four days, according to Eric Marrapodi and Damon Brown over on CNN. You can see the video directly below this story.
The video was created by Excentric, a Portuguese digital marketing company and also uses Facebook “likes” and even Foursquare “check-ins.” Some brilliant modern-day twists on the Nativity story include Joseph buying a cow from FarmVille, and the three kings using Foursquare to check-in at the manger.
