UFC’s Randy Couture Throws In The Towel Via Twitter?

UFC superstar “Randy Couture” is rumored to be retiring from the UFC forum, according to online social networking site Twitter. The fighter who has many strings to his bow including wrestling, martial arts, acting, owning a chain of gyms called Xtreme Couture, Legends Gym in LA, DeathClutch Gym which was opened this year and a dedicated training camp for fighters in Oregon, may be ending his MMA career.

Recently, Crunchsports.com reported that the 47-year old was rumored to be fighting Mauricio “Shogun” or “Lyoto Machida,” but on Tuesday Couture tweeted, “Thanks to everybody who’s been tweeting about seeing my fights I must have missed the memo:) I think I’m at the end of it Yall. It’s time.” Over at sporting website ESPN, they too reported on Couture tweeting, “I think I’m at the end of it. It’s time to move on and focus on all the other amazing things going on in my life. It’s time. Thanks, R.”

Couture has already had a brief retirement four years ago after winning against “Chuck Liddell,” but just a year later came back to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship from Tim Sylvia. If you are not familiar with the fighting champion’s track record in and out of the ring, then you may associate him with movies such as “Invincible,” “Redbelt” or more recently “The Expendables.”

  1. Randy didn't retire after beating Chuck Liddell, he fought 6 more times, losing to Liddell twice, then retired.

    He also 'retired' briefly during his contract dispute with the UFC, before coming back to lose to Brock Lesnar.
