Verizon iPhone 4 /5: Will avoid congestion with LTE

Here on OSM we’ve been following developments about a Verizon iPhone and know from our previous articles just how many of you are waiting for it. Just recently we’ve posted on whether the trend for Android phones will be reversed with the release of the Verizon iPhone, and also taken a look at Android vs. iPhone with news that currently 300,000 new Android phones are being activated daily.

Today Martin Peers over on The Wall Street Journal has taken a look at Verizon and AT&T and considers that investors should be thinking about how Verizon has previously performed and how much competitive advantage Verizon will gain with not only a Verizon Apple iPhone due in early 2011, but also its new LTE 4G network launched at the beginning of December. AT&T is also due to roll out its LTE network in mid-July but it will roll out much more gradually. Although the Verizon LTE network launch has faced a few difficulties these will be sorted very shortly but until LTE handsets are launched next year it will not be tested fully.

The AT&T network has faced problems because of being overloaded with iPhone data usage but Peers points out that this problem is unlikely to face Verizon as its LTE network should be able to avoid congestion because it operates on a different slice of radio spectrum than the 3G network. Even though the initial Verizon iPhone 4 or 5 is unlikely to work on the LTE network, therefore loading more users onto the 3G network, some of the pressure on the 3G network will be alleviated by people moving over to LTE.

Even though the subsidy costs of an iPhone will initially suppress Verizon’s earnings for 2011 the sheer potential of the edge that LTE can give Verizon will be interesting to investors. Meanwhile on Macnn an article looks into the potential price targets for Apple stock with the launch of a Verizon iPhone. We’d like to know what you think about the battle between Verizon and AT&T and how the release of an iPhone for Verizon will affect the two major companies? Why not send us your comments about this.

No other providers will be able to compete with Verizon once they offer the iPhone. Atleast one will go belly-up.

if its an antenna problem, no matter if youre on verizon or Metro PCS the reduction in bars will still happen.
