PlayStation Phone: Release Or Announcement Today?

PlayStation Phone: Release Or Announcement Today?

We know there’s a lot of interest in the PlayStation phone previously rumored for release next year. Recently we’ve posted articles about one spotted running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and also told about a video of the phone, also being dubbed the Zeus Z1. We then considered if there was rather too much hype about the device and now we have conflicting news from different sources about when it may be available, with one even saying it could be out today.

Over on Mobile Crunch, sourced from Nowhere Else, John Biggs reports that the phone could be released today, December 9, or at least there will be an announcement made. In an article today about the possible release of Apple’s iOS 4.3 today, we also speculated about the clash with an announcement about the PlayStation Phone. Biggs cites a “reliable tipster” and shows an invitation for a presentation today.

Meanwhile though, over on SlashGear, sourced from Android Community, Chris Davies reports that the Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone will go on sale in March 2011. His source says the device will be shown at the Mobile World Congress 2011 in February for release in March. Although there has been a certain amount of confusion over the name of this device it seems that it will be simply the PlayStation Phone.

It does seem rather odd to see two such completely different reports but maybe we don’t have long to wait until we find out which one, if either, is correct. We’d like to hear your thoughts on this so please feel free to send us your comments.

  1. If it can remote play to my PS3 (like a PSP can) via wifi AND 3G … I'm sold!
