“Friendly”: Oecoway’s Facebook Like App For iPad

Many iPad users have become frustrated at Facebook’s decline to release an official app for their social network on Apple’s tablet. Luckily for some, a 3rd party company called Oecoway has stepped forward and created their own app called “Friendly” which is pretty much a carbon copy of Facebook and gives you most of the services that the social network does.

Know Your Mobile has featured an excellent review on the app, listing its best features and summarising it. Impressively the 3 Facebook window options are available, which are Events, Live Feed and Places. Like normal the news feed provides users with the latest news on their friends, such as status updates, picture uploading and upcoming events. The review points out that although Places lets you share your location it is a bit of a waste of time.

“Friendly”, like Facebook allows you to perform tasks such as profile editing, change privacy settings, upload picture and video, write notes and all those useful things you would normally do on the social network. The app also comes with the ability to IM your friends, in virtually the same fashion as Facebook chat. Richard Goodwin who was testing the app unfortunately could not get the IM working, but if it is the same as chat then we can assume it is good.

Meanwhile Apple are selling the unofficial Facebook app on the iTunes store, and they have described it as “The best way to experience Facebook on iPad!”. “Friendly” is up for grabs for $0.99 and has recieved very positive reviews from purchasing customers. Ubergizmo on the other hand has reported that Oecoway are now in fact offering a version for free. This is probably the closest thing to Facebook you will get in terms of an app so get it while its hot. Leave us your thoughts on “Friendly” and tell us if you plan to or already have downloaded it.
