Best Film of the Year: The Social Network

Facebook, the social networking site which has managed to claim the number one spot, against it’s rivals Twitter and MySpace, is not only celebrating it’s huge number of users but has got another reason to be happy. Today, it seems that “The Social Network” film has been named “Best Film of the Year,” by The National Board of Review.

The film which was directed by David Fincher, and starring big actors such as Jessie Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake is based on Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his subsequent founding of the popular site.

Belfast Telegraph reported that in total “The Social Network” won four awards, one for Jesse Eisenberg for his role as playing Zuckerberg, David Fincher for best director and Aaron Sorkin’s script for best adapted screenplay. Originally the screenplay came from the 2009 non-fiction book “The Accidental Billionaires” by writer Ben Mezrich. To date the film has pulled in a whooping $90.5 million in America and $90.3 million oversees totalling a figure of $180.9 million worldwide.
