Android Magazine Banned From App Store By Apple

Google’s popular OS, Android is having its publicity sabotaged by big rival Apple, as they refused to put the Android Magazine iPhone app into their online store. The app was rejected because Apple saw it as a conflict of interest and did not want to be seen promoting a competitor.

Rich Trenholm reporting for Cnet reports that the publisher of Danish magazine Android Magasinet has said they were refused a place on the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad because the bi-monthly title was all about Android. Apple has admitted to the reason behind the rejection of the app, with a representative apparently telling the publisher, “You know… your magazine… it’s just about Android…. we can’t have that in our App Store.”

Apple clearly does not want their customers reading about their largest rivals newest products which could end up replacing their own. With the magazine filled with details on new smartphones, tablets and other gadgets; approving the Android Magazine could have been a bad mistake for the tech giants. Apple has always been touchy about apps in the past, with each app apparently having its fate decided in about 6 minutes. We have seen other apps controversially banned in the past to the displeasure of some users.

Is it wrong for Apple to tell us what we can and cant read on our iPhones and iPads, or is it their decision about what apps they do and dont want. We want to hear from you on this so tell us what you think.

It's fundamentally wrong, controlling what people read this way is like burning books.

Is it wrong? I don’t know. Read the EULA I guess. Is this why I don’t buy Apple? For sure! I’m sick of Apple thinking they can tell me how I should do things. Apple are like the North Korea of IT companies, but with a better logo.

They can do whatever they want. They are only hurting themselves (image etc).
Is is wrong that when I visit a Ford factory for business and I'm driving my Checy or a rental Honda etc that they make me park in the back of the parking lot. It only makes me not want to buy a Ford……
