Does Bongal Fill a Social Networking Gap?

November 30, 2021 | Tim Ollason

A new social networking site has hit the UK called Bongal, it was developed by Rory Marshall and his agency called Rippleffect. Bongal has only been live for around a few months and is ready to break the 20,000 member marker which is pretty good.

So what is Bongal? It is a social networking site that looks at your location and interests and tries to match yours interests to others in your area. This is a slightly different approach to the growing location based social media as it isn’t saying where you have just checked into, it is in fact looking at your overall location. This would be pretty good if you move to a new area where you do not know anyone and you can hook up with people that have the same interests. To read more about this head over to Yahoo News by clicking here.

A good idea but personally I don’t think this will take off, with the likes of Facebook being so popular and becoming a market place for companies. Bongal has a decent design but can it fit into the social media world? I am not convinced. If you want to join Bongal then click here to be directed to their site.

Its a nice concept and design looks different enough. They will struggle to go viral though with Facebook being the new email and putting caps on mass messaging. Good luck to them and kudos for giving it a punt.

I don't really use many social media sites, maybe i'm not in that demographic!
facebook is about my limit, however I do find this site interesting. In my opinion this site has a long way to go to be in the same league but I have to say the concept is actually very sound.

It will be interesting to see what happens.
