The ATP World Tour Finals is taking place in London right now and yesterday a match between Rafael Nadal and Tomas Berdych eventually saw Nadal take the victory and get through to the last four where he will be playing Briton Andy Murray later today.
However there was a rare display of temper from Rafael Nadal and it shows how rarely we see this sort of thing from Nadal as it has made headlines and many people are watching YouTube videos of exactly what happened and commenting on this Twitter page here about the incident. You can see one of the many YouTube videos of Nadal’s furious flare-up below this story. It occurred when Berdych successfully challenged a shot which had been called long and gained the point.
Nadal insisted he was entitled to a replay of the point as he had returned the ball in, according to BBC Sport. Nadal remonstrated angrily with the umpire and then took it upon himself to walk to the side of the court to implore with the tournament supervisor. However, the point stood. Nadal’s uncharacteristic outburst seemed to do the trick though as after the scene he played with sheer determination to book his place in the semi-finals.
Take a look at the video and tell us what you think of this unexpected display from Nadal? Does it detract from his brilliant tennis, or do you think it just makes him human and at least it doesn’t happen very often. We’d welcome your comments on this.
