With Thanksgiving Day festivities due to commence and Macy’s 83rd Thanksgiving Parade due to get underway, we can now bring you some fantastic news to make this year’s special day go with a bang. As well as reporting today on various social media tips to help your day run smoothly without any glitches, it seems that location-based Foursquare are doing their bit by offering their very own Badge.
At 9 am the Parade will start off from Central Park West from 77th Street through to Columbus Circus along Central Park South to 7th Avenue, from there 42nd Street, down to 6th Avenue, to 34th Street and then onto Macy’s Department Store. The Parade generally lasts up to 3 hours depending on where you stand, and includes street performers, bands, musical acts, and some pretty fantastic floats. From 3pm – 10 pm watch out for some 25 inflated balloons at the American Museum of Natural History.
Foursquare has been a great way for people to check-in to certain venues and gain badges or points. The Parade is no exception. If you check-in to the celebrations, you will manage to unlock the special “Macy’s Parade 2010” badge. The design incorporates “You’ve checked into the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade®! Enjoy this week’s excitement featuring great bands, musical acts, mischievous clowns & awe-inspiring floats! 5-4-3-2-1… Let’s have a Parade!”
Make sure you dress up warmly, drink plenty of hot drinks and remember to unlock that special edition badge.
Happy Thanksgiving from OSM.
