Those of you who purchased a Sony e-reader, or are thinking of buying one, may well be pleased with this next piece of news as both an Android and an iPhone App for the Sony Reader is on its way soon. Sony promised on the release of its latest e-readers earlier this year that corresponding apps would be out by the end of this year and it looks set to deliver that promise.
This will mean that as well as being able to access your library on your pc or e-reader, users will now be able to access their reading on their smartphones too. The features available on the apps will include obtaining titles from the Reader Store, adjusting font size while reading, and making bookmarks, notes and highlighting as you read, according to Brett James over on Geek.com sourced from the Reader Store.
It may take Sony some time to make its mark though against e-readers such as Amazon’s and Barnes & Noble’s which come with apps and also the Samsung Galaxy Tab which has Kobo pre-loaded. It seems likely that the new Sony Reader app will also become available for the iPad too.
The Sony Reader app is due in December but no firm date has been released yet. For more on this go to geek.com. Do you have a Sony e-reader and if so what do you think of the apps about to be released? We’d like to hear your thoughts so please feel free to send us your comments.
