You will not have escaped the news announced yesterday of the engagement between Prince William and Kate Middleton. The internet was quickly abuzz and we brought you articles about the Twitter response and also engagement YouTube videos.
Now an article by Lauren Indvik over on Mashable tells how the response on Twitter has been measured to gauge reactions. Trendrr which has measured social media reactions to many big news events such as the Chilean miners rescue, found that the Twitter response to the engagement was positive from 43% of Twitter users. Negative reactions to the engagement measured 16% while neutrals measured 41%.
It may not be such a surprise to you that most of the response, 61% of it, came from females. Looking at the response on Twitter from across the world 36% of tweets about the royal engagement were posted in the U.K. with the next largest responses coming from the U.S., Canada, Scotland, and Australia.
