“X Factor” contestant Katie Waissel hasn’t exactly been the favourite of the show, and has seen herself in the bottom two more often than not. Now it appears that the 24-year old singer is receiving death threats, via social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

According to a recent article over at by Liz Thomas and Jaya Narain, police have now been called in to investigate, after sinister messages began appearing on Twitter and Facebook following Sunday night’s results show, which saw Katie stay and Aiden get sent home.

Katie has been left feeling disgusted and freaked out by the messages, which include things such as: “Who’s coming on a murder hunt with me? Target Katie Waissel,” “Katie DIE DIE!” and “Katie deserves to die right this minute.” There have also been over 40 Facebook groups created.

The Facebook groups either ridicule Waissel in some way, campaign to have her booted off of the “X Factor,” or a few actually show support for the singer. A spokesperson for the ITV show said that the threats are disgusting and outrageous, and described it as cyber-bullying.

Yeah no, not a chance. The fact that she's been in the bottom two for 4/6 result shows is a clear indication of that. I can't believe hse's still in the competition damnit.

This year's X Factor is a big FIX. The producers have to keep Katie in this years X Factor otherwise it will look very bad on Cheryl Cole. Remember , Gamu should of been in Katie's place
