Lil Wayne released from prison: Twitter and Google interest

Rapper Lil Wayne was today released from prison after serving 8 months of a 12 month sentence for a weapon possession conviction. His early release following good behavior has caused a huge amount of interest with even former President Bill Clinton expressing his support.

Popular artist Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, had used Twitter to blog from prison during his incarceration and many people were following news of his release. Indeed Lil Wayne attracted such a large amount of interest from the public that earlier today he was the No. 1 trending topic on both Google and Twitter, according to Derek Evers over on AOL Music.

Before he can enjoy the big party that’s been planned for his release Lil Wayne has to head to Arizona to sign documents about a 2008 drug case and then once home in Florida will begin a 36-month probation period. Lil Wayne recently posted on WeezyThanxYou, “I’ve been trying to get as much rest as I can because I know I won’t when I’m out of here,” so it looks as though he’ll be ready for the Welcome Home Weezy party to be held for him in Miami this weekend.
