YouTube Announce 1 Billion Celebration With New Widget

YouTube the site which enables users to view, upload and share video content, is now celebrating a huge milestone of reaching 1 billion subscriptions. In a site that was initially set up in 2005, users have been able to enjoy TV clips, music videos, movie clips as well as the everyday person making and sharing their very own video blogging and short videos.

In the last few weeks, OSM has reported on news relating to Lady Gaga hitting 1 billion views (a race between Justin Bieber and herself to see who would be crowned number one), Sesame Street parody video, Charlie Chaplin Time Traveller video clip and the Tron: Legacy Trailer video clip featuring music group Daft Punk.

Brenda Ehrlich at Mashable has reported that as well as YouTube seeing some 1 billion viewings, another milestone has been reached with the Promoted Videos program hitting half a billion views. To celebrate the fantastic news, YouTube has now introduced a new widget, that will enable video-makers the opportunity to embed in their sites, which will give then give them the chance to sign up to channels outside of the video-sharing site. Details of this can be found on YouTube’s blog.

The reason many like me would look up this article is to get a feel about the 'new YouTube widget' that the headline announces. Alas, there is no solid discussion on that, nor is there any link to the 'YouTube blog'!
