We’ve heard of some inventive marketing campaigns recently and it seems people are becoming more creative in finding ways to promote products or events. We recently told, for example, about the new marketing campaign for Jay-Z’s new book ‘Decoded’ in collaboration with Bing involving an online interactive game, and the new Nissan Juke Facebook promotion.
Now we hear that the popular “Conan” show is to return to TBS on November 8 and Conan O’Brien is using Twitter as a tool to promote the show according to Cory Bergman over on Lost Remote. If you’re a fan of the show and use Twitter then you can now take part in a Twitter vote to choose the first guest on the show from a selection of twelve potentials.
Some of the names on the poll are the obvious ones such as Lady Gaga and the Bieber but then the suggestions get more and more bizarre with Pope Benedict XVI, Vladimir Putin, notoriously reclusive author Thomas Pynchon and The Full Cast of the 2004 Live-Action “Fat Albert” Movie,” just some of the other names to appear. This certainly should capture the imagination of the viewer at home and is a great idea for a promotion but will the vote be valid?
Unsurprisingly the producer of the show, Aaron Bleyaert blogs, “Now, there’s an important fact here that I should mention: None of these people have actually been booked on our show. For one reason or another, we haven’t contacted any of these people.” It appears that the show is hoping to guilt-trip one of the big names on the list to get them to be the first guest and I’d just love to see that happen!
For more on this go to lostremote.com. Take a look at the list and let us know who you’d vote for? Maybe you have another idea for an unlikely guest appearance by somebody not already on Conan’s list? We’d love to hear your ideas about this so please do send in those comments.
