Jay-Z’s Bing marketing campaign for ‘Decoded’

Fans of Jay-Z can soon go on a mystery tour as part of a major marketing campaign in collaboration with Bing to launch his new book, ‘Decoded.’ The book isn’t actually released until November 16 but the campaign means that his fans may get access to pages from the book in a sneak preview a month before it goes on sale.

The marketing campaign also involves an online interactive game where pages from ‘Decoded’ will actually physically be put in different locations around the world but mostly around New York. The locations will loosely be tied in to content on Bing Maps and Bing Entertainment with between 4 and 10 new pages being available every day. If fans go to they will be able to see the pages or even physically find them, according to Radhika Marya over on Mashable.

If somebody joining in the game finds one of the pages they will get an online credit and a physical find means they can access a code from the page to text. There will then be draws whereby signed copies of the pages can be won, plus anybody who finds a page is placed in a competition to win the biggie, two tickets for a New Year’s Eve concert in Las Vegas featuring Cold Play and you guessed it…Jay-Z.

It certainly sounds like a great initiative that could be a lot of fun for participating fans and as well as being a promotional tool for ‘Decoded’ it should also benefit Bing, by drawing in more users.
