Sony Tweet Of Gran Turismo 5 Disappointing Delay

We expect that there are a fair few of you out there, who are still waiting on news of the release date of Sony’s Gran Turismo 5. Recent indications show that the racing game will now be launched nearer to Christmas. As well as disappointment being felt amongst gaming enthusiasts, developers for the game Polyphony Digital and Sony executives are also voicing their opinions.

According to Softpedia, news of delays filtered through only yesterday. In a recent tweet from Kazonuri Yamauchi, Gran Turismo’s game lead designer, it read, “It’s because time and labor were spent ironing the kinks out of the games complex system. I’m really sorry. Everyone, it’s inexcusable.. Wait a little longer.” This follows on with a feeling of sadness for consumers having to hold fire!

In such a bold decision being made to delay the game, Taku Imasaki, the game’s executive producer has commented that, “We’re really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday. Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We’re not happy over here.” He went on to say that Sony is now, “Shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won’t see too much more delay.” In the game’s new offering, you will see some 100 new tracks, 20 different locations, night racing will become available for GT5, new weather conditions, as well as new vehicles such as Lamborghini, Bugatti, Ferrari’s new 458 Italia and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “gullwing”.

Considering this game was meant to be released at the same time as the PS3 here in Europe one cannot say I am surprised at yet another delay. The fact that the cars that would have originally featured in this damned game as brand new would now need an MOT and be out of warranty says it all. Polyphony, cut your losses or just release whatever half baked product you lakadaisical wasters there have managed to produced between cigarette breaks and have done with it..

I'm annoyed that there is yet another delay, however, the dufus that left the last message has either never played Gran Tursimo 5 Prologue, or any other edition to make such a ferral comment. Either that or he's just an ignorant little turd. you decide

Is that a joke or are you retarded?

I think gran turismo 5 will be a perfect game and sell 20 million plus, it will fully use ps3 blu ray disc technology, it is very difficult making 50gb games so just wait the extra few weeks thanks.

ffs I just want to drive a VW camper on my ps3 the next release date they announce they should be 100% certain it will be ready instead get all of our hopes up and shattering them a few weeks before release

  4. b-rad says:

hope they hurry up a lil annoyed that we have to keep waiting after the hype of pre ordering ect if there is to be another delay just release it then make a upgrade

Well, GT always had night-racing. It's just that GT5 will include day/night transitions during the race (making 24hr races that much more realistic). I was shocked to see that they broke their first official release date. I really thought they had it solid because of the Japanese TV Commercial.

I was goin to buy a PS3 just for this game, i was excited for the November 2nd release, i'm fustrated but at the same time i'm thinking if there is another delay there probably gonna make the game as close to perfect as it could get. I'm just really impaitent and i want it now, props to the GT people, get the game out before christmas

  7. I dont care to be honest how long it takes (as long as it does not end as another 'great space race' - anyone who remembers that gaming disaster is old like me) as long as it a great game - Prologue is ok for now still - I even like the 'oooohhhhhmmmmyyyygooooddddd a corner Suzuki cappucino balsa wood car'!

Give them a break eh - way back when I used to be a level designer it took weeks to do one level (and that was in 1999) - patience people!

  8. Zertinan says:

I heard about the delay hours after the decision was made, i aswel have been waiting for the release since 2006 when it was first due…xmas 2010 is a long wait but i could cope because i knew i would be gifted with not a GAME but a work of art, GT doesnt even feel like a game. Was really gutted about the delay but im now over it and willing to wait until a max date of 20th december (no patience left for later date) this might give me time to buy my Logitech G27, a massive upgrade to my current Logitech driving force EX. :)

    beyond a joke now.

  11. Webbi says:

I have owned all of the GT games so far and have been desperately awaiting this game (I told my girlfriend in 2007 I needed a ps3 purely because I needed Gran Turismo 5 - She bought it for me and now refuses to believe I honestly thought it would be out then!). However I recently played Forza 3 on a friends Xbox360 and was suitably impressed. I know Turismo will be better of course, but the extra playing time and the constantly updating nature of it I am seriously considering forgetting about GT.
I do feel like Sony have strung us along with this one. I only wish someone would have been honest enought to tell us it was likly to be around 2011 before we would be able to play it.

  12. the man says:

Im fed up with this to be honest, I said to myself that if this game does not come out by the end of the 2011, im binning my ps3 alltogether as there are no decent games for it anyway. (unless you like killing or shooting people)

There are loads of good violence free games, little big planet, motorstorm, katamari forever, need for speed shift, final fantasy xiii, split second, modnation racers, tiger woods, heavy rain, sports champions, and hundreds more, plus gran turismo 5 soon if you can wait.

  14. Dogzzz says:

By the time I get to play this game, my reflexes will have diminished to be even slower than Michael Schumacher's.

I WAS looking forward to it. but I think I have lost all interest in it now.
