White iPhone Release Update: Not White Enough

Just the other day, we reported on British writer and actor “Stephen Fry” accidentally showcasing his White iPhone 4 off to attendees at the T3 Gadget Awards 2010. Delving into his pockets to pull out a Windows Phone 7 handset that had been given to him by Microsoft, he reached in and pulled out the iPhone instead. Pocket-Lint has now reported yet another sighting of one at a press event in NYC.

Although the person carrying the device has been reluctant to give his name, Pocket-Lint has managed to take some photos of it in action and find out a little more from the user. The man said that at Apple’s Headquarters in Cupertino, there are plenty of White iPhones and that a mate had “fixed him up” with the white version he was carrying. This poses the question as to why the rest of us haven’t been able to get our hands on one?

When the gentleman was asked if he could comment on this, he replied that Apple is experiencing problems with “color matching” parts of the handset. The two suppliers that are used in the Far East, are at a stage where they are trying to get an exact white color for the home button and the front face plate, which presently are not identical. This supposedly is causing the delays.

Are you waiting in limbo for your white handset? Do you feel convinced by this news? Let us know. Check out Pocket-Lint for more information.
