Call of Duty: Black Ops – Bigger Than Modern Warfare 2?

Currently it’s easy to say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is one of the best games around at the moment, but is that all about to change with the next Call of Duty: Black Ops due to be released on November 9? According to HMV, they have every reason to think that this may be the case.

According to Eurogamer, senior buyer for HMV “James Brooks” has backed this up by saying, “We’re seeing some exceptional interest for this title across its different formats. Particularly our co-exclusive on the Prestige Edition on where stock is nearly sold-through now and very little is left.” He extended on this by commenting, “Based on all this initial demand and the huge excitement that’s clearly being generated, I’d say this title has every chance of being the biggest game release ever, and it’s certainly shaping up to become the largest pre-order that we’ve seen in-store and online on”

It seems that, GAME and Amazon share the same views as their counterparts. For example, has said that Black Ops is fairing extremely well in relation to the pre-order charts. It’s taken the number one position with Xbox 360, second on PS3 and the Hardened Edition 10th on Xbox 360. Not all retailers agree though. ShopTo believe that although the game will sell extremely well and will position itself within the top 10 games, it will be out beaten by Gran Turismo 5.

So what do you think? Will the next edition prove to sell more than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which pushed out an impressive 1.7 million copies in the UK in just five days? Let us know. To read more on this log onto Eurogamer
