Back To The Mac Predictions: iPad 2 No Show

We reported last night, on the forthcoming Apple event “Back to the Mac” which is due to take place on October 20. With a start time of 10.00 am PT at Apple‘s Cupertino Campus, it is hoped that we will hear news of an update to Mac OS X, MacBook Air, iLife and iWork’11. Indications show that there is still no news on the second generation iPad.

According to Dan and Scott at Cnet, the event is hoped to bring details of an improved MacBook Air. Speculation has it that the existing 13-inch laptop will be replaced with a smaller version of 11-inches. It seems about time that we had a new update, the last being in April. Although the MacBook Pro 15 and 17-inch laptops included new Core i5 and i7 processors, the 13-inch stayed at a standstill incorporating the Core 2 Duo CPU and upgraded Nvidia integrated graphics. Perhaps a change is needed with an Intel Core i3.

The tech world is waiting in baited breath with an announcement of an updated OS X. If this is the case, then buyers may possibly get the new OS for free with the rest of us waiting for the holiday season. Also, wouldn’t it be lovely to see the joining together of OS X and iOS functions?

So now we have had time to digest what may or may not be announced next Wednesday, it still leaves the question about the iPad 2, specifications and release dates? Rumors have been rife about the device incorporating a 7-inch screen, retina display and front-facing camera with FaceTime. For now, it seems we will have to wait a little longer to find out any more details.

If the iPad2 comes with 7 inch screen I won't buy it. Downgrading from 9.7 inch to 7 inch. That would suck.
