As sales of the Apple iPad grow, U.S. retailer Target release the tablet onto their shop floors. Added to this the on-line store Amazon.com will also be selling at the RRP for direct purchases.
AppleInsider reports that only the Wi-Fi versions of iPads 32GB and 64GB models will be available through Amazon. Prices will be identical to Apple, with the 32GB priced at $599 and $699 for the 64GB.
As yet the other four versions will not be available from Amazon. But with the lowest priced 16GB Wi-Fi tablet commanding a price of $556.72 plus the $8.18 shipping, from third-party resellers, it gives a high mark up over the normal entry-level price of $499.
With Amazon Prime users able to enjoy free shipping, the iPads purchased through the on-line store also come excluding local tax. As Target said back in September, the U.S. retailer started selling on Sunday. So with another outlet for the popular tablets sales, this can only help Apple release more units into the market.
