Beware: Facebook infested with new click worm

Be careful when using Facebook today as a nasty worm has been spread and is affecting thousands of users. The click scam which is similar to one we have seen recently, forces you to “like” a certain page or status and then spread it further.

As reported by Mashable the scammers have found out a way to exploit the “Like” button via Javascript and are using it to force users to like the page and then spread it to others. As we saw previously, the scammers pick an irresistible post that everyone wants to see with the last being “OMG This GUY Went A Little To Far WITH His Revenge On His EX Girlfriend.” And then wait for all the nosy people to click the link and spring the trap.

This time around the scammers are baiting their hooks with “Shocking! This girl killed herself after her dad posted this photo.” Once you click the link the worm will spread and will trigger what has been said above. Thankfully the worm does not affect your account or steal personal information; however it is not fully know what other effects it causes. Facebook are investigating.

Anyone who sees the above link should avoid it and advise others to do so. If you have already been affected then immediately remove the like and try to rid yourself of any other association you have had with the fake page. Have you been affected?
