Twitter: The weeks top 10 trends

In this weeks top 10 trends on Twitter; we have a few new entries but mainly the same familiar names. Many of this week’s charters follow the pattern of sports and entertainment. We will give you our round up of the week’s hottest topics, thanks to our friends over at Mashable. If you missed last weeks chart of top trends, then you can find them by following the link.

This week’s top trend is Football/Soccer; the worlds biggest sport is always in the news with the focus this week being on the young and talented but hot headed Neymar Jr who is being punished by his team Santos FC. Manchester United and Liverpool from the Barclay’s premier league were also among the Tweets this week. Due to the combination of leagues, competitions and fans all around the globe; Football is your number 1 this week.

In 2nd place this week we have Twitter. Anyone heard of it… me neither? The micro blogging site has been in the news due to the security flaw that affected thousands of users last week. Twitter also charted last week at number 7 because of the announcement that they would introduce a fresh new design with embedded media and content in users’ streams.

Number 3 this week is the NFL as the season has kicked off and is attracting a lot of attention; Michael Vick made most of the headlines this week, helping the NFL secure its place in 3rd. Your number 4 is RBD, a former Mexican pop group who got a lot of attention from a YouTube parody video that was uploaded.

The Brazilian VMAs have taken 5th this week and your teenage pop pal Justin Bieber is at 6. Is there ever going to be week when he does not make the chart? Number 7 is Bishop Eddie Long the Georgian church leader who was surrounded in controversy this week over pedophilia claims.

This weeks number 8 is Harry Potter as the latest trailer of the Deathly Hallows movie has been released on YouTube. The film is out in November and will be broken down into 2 parts; the second coming out in July. In at 9 this week is Yom Kippur, which is a sacred holiday for the Jews which began on September 17th at sundown.

And finally to finish your chart, at number 10 is the fourth season of the Gossip Girl TV show. The show has been in the news this week as the character Chuck Bass made a return, despite being shot at the end of season 3.
