ITV are set to launch a social networking game on Facebook and their website, based on their long running soap opera Coronation Street. The game called “Corrie Nation” will first be available on ITV.com and then will make its Facebook debut in November.
According to License Mag the objective of the game is to build, populate, manage and grow Coronation Street and a wider Weatherfield over time. There is a competitive edge to the game, as players go head to head in different challenges. Players must use their existing knowledge and understanding of what builds drama to aid them in scoring top points.
The game has been created by the Coronation Street production team and has been designed to act as a virtual version of the real Coronation Street world. In the U.K the soap is one of the most popular programs and so fans of the show that have a Facebook account will be amongst the main focus of players. The game luckily is free to play, however optionally you can buy virtual in game goods with real money to improve your virtual world and gaming experience.
