Apple iPhone 4: Five Apps To Fight Poverty

With smartphone apps available for just about everything, the latest news announced is that of five apps to help fight “poverty”. The downloadable apps can be accessed onto your iPhone with a touch of a button, and it is hoped that with a small donation, users will be able to contribute to some very worthy causes!

When Stephanie Marcus at Mashable reported on this, the five apps work in different ways but the end result will stay the same. We have looked at just two of the five apps to give you an overall feel of what is out there. “Make Poverty History” works when a white band (like the kind you wear for different causes) incorporating the app name can be bought for $0.99 as a backdrop on your handset. The great idea behind this is that 100% of all funds raised will go straight to charity.

It is hoped that users will try to give something back to their community, the great benefit of the app “CauseWorld” is that is does not cost anything to the mobile user. Instead, with the help of various sponsor companies such as “Kraft” and “Citibank”, it works on the principle that when the user opens up their phone and pushes the app, it will automatically check itself in to a sponsor. “Karma points” are then earned giving the user the choice of where they would like the sponsor to place the donation.
