iTunes Ping: Over 1 million in the first 48 hours

iTunes’ new social network service Ping has gained over one million users in the first 48 hours of release, Apple revealed last week. According to reports on Yahoo, one third of iTunes 10 users have also signed up for Ping.

Due to the worldwide popularity of Apple’s products such as the iPod, iPad and iPhone, numbers are expected to rapidly grow with more and more people downloading iTunes 10 and Ping with it. The reviews and comments on Ping so far indicate that it has many good and bad points. For example it is an effective way to keep in touch with your friends and fellow Ping users, whilst sharing various information related to music in a Facebook and Twitter like fashion.

On the downside Ping has been slammed for not being avaliable to non iTunes users and also for its “clunky interface” as well as simple things such as not being able to see what music your friends are listening to and vice versa. Follow the link for an article on why non iTunes users will be a problem for Apple and Ping.
