First Facebook now Google to be star of the movies

We’ve already posted several articles about the new Facebook movie, “The Social Network,” due to be released in October. The film which is much-anticipated, is about Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerburg and the rise of Facebook and the controversy surrounding it at times. The trailer has already received the Twitter parody treatment, along with a YouTube parody.

Now it seems that Google may get in on the act of starring in movies, with a production company acquiring the movie rights to a book about the company and its founders, Segrey Brin and Larry Page, according to Jennifer Van Grove over on Mashable, sourced from Deadline. The book, entitled “Googled: The End of the World As We Know it” was written by Ken Auletta and came out last year.

Film rights have been bought by Michael London’s Groundswell Productions along with producer John Morris. Michael London said in an interview with Deadline, “The heart of the movie is their wonderful edict, don’t be evil. At a certain point in the evolution of a company so big and powerful, there are a million challenges to that mandate. Can you stay true to principles like that as you become as rich and powerful as that company has become?”

This is all very much in the early-stages and there’s no more news yet as to whether the movie will actually get off the ground but it certainly sounds like an intriguing project and one that would, we feel, interest many people. For more on this go to mashable.com. Do you think a film about Google and its founders could interest mainstream viewers?
