Slingbox Problems: Could not connect to the Sling Accounts Server

For viewers watching their TV via Slingbox, they may be experiencing problems at the moment due to the support thread on Whether its connection via the Sling site, mobile device results or trying SlingPlayer via computer is causing no end of problems with “loading” issues.

When Richard Lawler at engadget reported, there are a few options available to users that could temporarily rectify the problem. Some users for instance, may be able to switch networks by using WiFi on their 3G mobile works, or using an older version of SlingPlayer that connects directly to their box and bypasses Sling servers.

Many users rely on the Slingbox as it was developed as a streaming device that enables users to remotely view their home’s cable, satellite or personal video recorder programming from an Internet-enabled computer with a broadband Internet connection. As we speak, Sling technicians are looking into this problem and hoping to rectify it as soon as possible.

I have not been able to connect for a while

  3. This is typical of Slingbox. I get TV via Internet from a program at Have used it for a couple years and its reliable.

  4. Jean-Christophe says:

My sling player will only connect to my slingbox remotely if I am logged into my sling account simultaneously using my web browser.don't know what's up with that. If not, Slingplayer does not see my internet connection.

Ok… first id like to say that Ive had trouble connecting since August 3rd. and the issue has been the same.

i use slingbox for my main source of television (its at my mother's house 4 hours away and im the only one that uses it)

I have slingplayer for Mac and for PC as well as sling player for iPhone.

the SP for Mac works for often than the others but even IT only works occasionally. I try to use slingbox ALL The time at different times of the day and the problem is still the same.

I think its some type of BS that sling is acting like they cant fix the problem when its clear they must have changed something. You are charging people too much to have these kinds of problems…. or at least for THIS LONG.

    Please get it together, Sling.

Same issue for me. On both the iPhone and my PC, I can't log into the SlingPlayer (slingaccounts server). The error message the SlingPlayer on my PC is giving me is "You must have an internet connection to proceed"

Of course, if I didn't have an internet connection, I would not be here right now. This has been going on for the past couple days (today is 8/9/2021) and it's frustrating!

  7. Matt in Delaware says:

I have the same issue. On all my PCs and iPhone it will not connect to my slingbox. on the PCs it keeps searching for the box but it never locates it (both lights are lit on front so the sling is seeing the network). On the iPhone the errors tells me to make sure my phone and sling box are connected to the internet. I have not had a single instance when it worked since the beginning of August. I am pissed. Slingbox and the sling mobile app are WAY to expensive for this kind of crap to going on. I thought I was paying for a solid device/service, but I guess you DON'T always get what you pay for.
