Social Media Marketing Integration Strategies: SEO and PPC

Recently I’ve written a lot about how important Social Media Marketing is, how business schools are doing classes on the subject and how Ford are an example of a company which does SMM so well. Now you can succeed at SMM by following the tips and tricks listed within this B2C Marketing Insider article.

This article is rather difficult to understand, as it uses a lot of abbreviations. To understand what Kent Lewis is saying on, you need to understand that SEO is Search Engine Optimisation, PPC is pay per click advertising, SEM is Search Engine Marketing and SMM is Social Media Marketing (I made the last one up myself).

Listed within the article are tips to help companies get their websites to a higher spot in search rankings. For example, keywords are key and there are tools out there such as Google Trends and Tag clouds which are useful in determining which topics are currently popular.

One way to get your business more popular is through Google Local Business Listings (LBL’s- oh look, another abbreviation, yay!). These are directories for businesses, sort of like yellow pages, which can be filled with the company’s information and filed into Google’s Lucky 7 localised search results. What this means for consumers is that if you type in a service, say computer repair shop, followed by your postcode then you are given a map with local businesses on and their locations.
