We have some great news for all you movie fans out there today! Twitter has recently launched its first @earlybird exclusive offer along with Walt Disney Studios. The new promotion is said to be in conjunction with today’s release of the new movie, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”

As reported by Christina Warren at mashable.com, US @earlybird or @DisneyPictures Twitter followers can get a 2-for-1 deal on tickets, but only for a limited time. A free movie ticket is a pretty good deal, and it also works as a great test case for Twitter’s new @earlybird program.

It appears Twitter wants to promote itself – just as Facebook has – as an avenue that brands and advertisers can use to build momentum and brand recognition through promotions and coupons. And this @earlybird concept is similar to what some of Twitter’s Promoted Tweet partners are doing already.

And while advertisers and brands quite often do their own promotions via Twitter, the advantage of using @earlybird is that the follower base may not only be bigger in some cases, but the types of followers may be more broad and varied as well.
