Firefox 3.6.4: Download now, flash problems fixed

Were you getting tired of your Firefox browser crashing due to third-party plugins – most notably Adobe Flash? If you were, you’ll be pleased to know that after some delay, Mozilla has finally released Firefox 3.6.4. And it looks like the flash problems have been fixed.

According to Ben Parr at, the new updated browser comes with a fair few bug fixes, as well as stability upgrades. However, the average user will care more about the Firefox crash protection – something that is a prominent feature of the Google Chrome.

The added crash protection utilizes out-of-process plugins technology, to run third-party plugins such as Silverlight, Quicktime and Flash in a separate process. Before now, a plugin crash would take down the entire Firefox browser, which can be extremely annoying.

However, there is a catch!!! Only Windows and Linux users have access to crash protection. According to Mozilla, to make the crash protection available for Mac OS X users, it would require major changes to the Firefox infrastructure. But it will be available in Firefox 4.
