World Cup 2010: No Twitter for England Team

It appears that more and more sports are starting to ban their stars from using social networking sites such as Twitter nowadays. And it looks like the England World Cup team are the latest sports stars to be banned from using the microblogging service.

As recently reported by Kevin at, the English FA have recently banned Fabio Capello’s team from using the popular social networking site Twitter. A similar action was reportedly announced by the Spanish FA recently as well.

Spain’s head coach Vicente Del Bosque has warned his players that they are not allowed to use any sort of social networking websites during the 2010 World Cup or in pre-tournament games. That means no Twitter, MySpace or Facebook for them for a while.

It was only recently that Brazilian midfielder Kaka said that he was going to delete his wife’s Twitter account, after she used it to criticize Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini for not giving a full 90 minutes playing time to her husband during important matches.

Do you think that they should be banned from using Twitter etc during the 2010 World Cup?
