Sachin Tendulkar’s Twitter Score Unlike Cricket Debut

It took Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar over 20 years, to achieve 17,598 runs in 442 one-dayers, 13,447 in 166 test matches, 92 international tons and 147 international half-centuries. And to achieve over 85,000 followers and counting on Twitter, it took him just over 20 hours.

When he debuted into the cricket world, he was a nervous 16-year old in Karachi, but his Twitter debut on Wednesday, was far more confident. “Finally the original SRT is on Twitter n the first thing I’d like to do is wish my colleagues the best in the windies,” he wrote in his first tweet.

From the moment he joined Twitter and posted his first tweet, the tag on the right hand side of his Twitter page that tracks how many people were following him, went mad. At 6:00pm he had 53,291 followers, at 6:30 he had 55,263 and by 7:00pm, it had jumped to 56,863 followers.

The tweets he was sending included the reasons for being on Twitter in the first place – “My kids r happy that I m finally on twitter. They hv been tryin 2 get me to join twitter or facebook for ages – and updates on his injury – “got stitches removed … will keep you posted on this.”
