New 13-inch Macbook Pro: Missing i5, Touch Screen, Replacement Battery

The new Apple MacBook pro lineup is pretty impressive, and the 13-inch MacBook Pro has improved on many levels. When you visit you will see a nice photo promoting faster graphics, faster processor, and faster everything.

Apple’s 13-inch MacBook has an extra hour or two of battery life, but seems to still lack a lot more than just screen size. Some users will feel disappointed to know that the 13-inch model lacks the new Intel Core i5 processor even as an option.

Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors increase performance nearly 50 percent when compared to the previous versions of MacBooks, and they also include a feature called “Turbo Boost”. This gives processor-intensive applications an extra kick, and is not included in the 13-inch model.

A swivel touch screen to turn it into a tablet easily, and a screen that does not reflect your image so easy could have compensated some of the missing features. Add to that a replaceable battery, and we may have been a little nearer to perfection.

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro is better, but does lack some important features. What do you like and dislike about the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro?

I am outraged with Apple. They are usually on the cutting edge but really fall behind some PC brands that have integrated the i5 and i7 into the 13". They are using an extremely out-dated processor for the 13" and I am amazed by this. I don't know whether they are too cheap to integrate the high end chip or are just waiting for the Sandy Bridge update of the i7 chips.

I've been waiting for months for the new Macbook Pro 13 inch and now this: a crap2duo? I could forgive the many other shortcomings but not this one. Either the engineering department has been sitting on its ass or the marketing department has made a very poor choice. I assumer the latter. A big disappointment. Don't buy it.

I agree. what a letdown. The 13" is the only size I consider due to its portability. I've been waiting and waiting for a major upgrade….looks like I'll still be using this 07 macbook core duo until apple can actually release a worthwhile update on these outdated machines.
