RIM BlackBerry and Car Connectivity

Research in Motion (RIM), the creators of BlackBerry, have just signed a deal to acquire QNX Software Systems from Harman International.

So who exactly are they? Well… “QNX is a company that specialises in development tools, middleware and other products aimed at embedded platforms” — The acquisition of QNX should be extremely intriguing, due to the high demand for in car technology.

Earlier in the week, Mashable screened a video featuring the first car installation of an iPad. Clearly technology is racing forwards day by day, as the stuff of the future is rapidly becoming reality. So with the software now acquired RIM’s announcement really does highlight some of the work QNX does in the automotive sector, which is a new area for them to explore.
