Facebook’s FarmVille vs World of Warcraft: The Future

Facebook’s FarmVille vs World of Warcraft: The Future

We were shocked to learn that a young boy of 12 amassed a bill of £905 on Facebook’s FarmVille. He had paid £288 from his own savings, the rest from his mother’s credit card. There are two problems with this, the first is that he stole from his mother; the second is that he should not be on Facebook at that age.

According to Mashable, this huge bill took two weeks to rack up, which real money was used to purchase virtual currency and other items. This sort of business is certainly taking off, but we there needs to be limits set and measures put in place to stop children getting on Facebook in the first place.

The blog has asked its readers if Farmville will ever replace World of Warcraft and become the online game of choice. There is no denying how popular WoW is with its cult following – but the same thing is now happening with Facebook’s FarmVille.

FarmVille has a big mountain to climb though if they ever hope of toppling World of Warcraft. However, with 11 million users playing FarmVille daily, it will not take them long to topple WoW.
