Verizon iPhone: Trading In For 4G

Looking back at tech news for the last 7 days, one of the biggest stories was the long rumored Verizon iPhone 4G. While many sites have been reporting every little rumor for some time, WSJ kick started a hype not seen for months thanks to their “Verizon iPhone” posting.

If true, the Verizon iPhone release date will stay a mystery for a few weeks yet – at least to WWDC 2010 – and no amount of leaked images, and rumored hardware shipments will make Apple spill the beans earlier than they already plan to.

Are the other phone brands worried? Research in Motion – maker of the BlackBerry - continues to be top for smartphone market share, and they have the most to lose from a Verizon iPhone. It’s believed that RIM are “likely to hold a leading position” if this rumor turns out true, according to CNN’s Money channel.

Apple has almost saturated the market for iPhones on AT&T – according to PC World – so the next step to expand iPhone user base is to add another wireless provider, which ending exclusivity with AT&T seems inevitable. You may want to read the interesting article on PC World, which claims AT&T customers could benefit from a Verizon iPhone.

The reality of a Verizon iPhone brings problems for some phone users, and this includes those that updated their phone and moved network to AT&T recently. Ending a contract early will cost you, are you willing to pay high costs to move to a Verizon iPhone?

So back to our title: Verizon users, will you be trading in your smartphone for the iPhone 4G (4th generation) if it’s released in 2010?

I would trade in any phone to get iphone 4g. I mean all the other phones are wannabes and the android os is not even ready it's so bugged and the camera is slower than of the iphone. and the android is such an ugly figure to represent a call everytime.

  2. James says:

I'm waiting And waiting and waiting. Mac users with verizon contracts have waited long enough.

  3. james says:

I havwva Droid, and I love this phone, the Verizon iPhone would have to actually be a better phone, not just the same phone on a different network, for me to even think about it

  4. Katia says:

Oh, my gosh! You bet. I would definitely trade my Droid for an iPhone! I have a Droid, and I love it… but I've been wanting an iPhone since they first came out (plus all my friends have one).

  5. Amelia says:

I love Verizon, and I have been loyal to Verizon for 6 years… If the iPhone 4G really does come out for Verizon, that will be one more reason to stay with Verizon and maintain loyal.

  6. Tim says:

I have been waiting for the iPhone and refuse to go to ATT. Verizon has been good for me. My contract with Verizon is up now but I can live with my Blackberry till the iPhone shows up. Google blew it because I would have gotten a Nexus One if it would have released, but they screwed around and now word is back out that the iPhone may become a reality. Sorry Google…and by the way your phone needs to be in the stores

  7. Kate says:

Absolutely. AT&T's awful customer service and the lack of coverage in my area guarantees that I will stick with Verizon, no matter how much I've wanted an iPhone for the past few years.
