The social gaming industry is booming, and growth in this industry is continuing to grow and evolve. If you’re a Facebook user, then you would have heard about the game “FarmVille” but what about Happy Farm?

ReadWriteWeb is reporting the online gaming industry in China grew 39.5% from 2008, and earned almost $4 billion in 2009. Social gaming is a way people escape pressures of the real world, stress from college exams to corporate pressures. In China, some people sit for up to 8-hours in smoke-filled Internet cafes, living in a virtual world.

What is it about farming that made Happy Farm and FarmVille the most popular games in China and on Facebook? Social game developers face many challenges with these games, which include more innovation, a need for continuous improvement, and the continue rise of operational costs.

These challenges are real, but the growth potential for social gaming in China is tremendous. The future will see a convergence between 3G mobile gaming and social games. This is only the beginning, what do you see for the future of social gaming and mobile innovation?
