Twitter allowed Demi Moore to save teen’s life

The social networking site Twitter is known as a place where Internet-happy celebrities, can keep their adoring fans up to date with what they are up to every five minutes. But the other night, it was also a place that allowed Demi Moore to help save the life of a suicidal teen.

According to a recent report at, the 18-year old youth – living in Florida - posted a message on Demi Moore’s Twitter page. The tweet reportedly said that he had messed up his life, and that he was thinking about committing suicide.

The youth’s tweet said that he was just about to “go hang myself from a tree outside my house and end my life. I have no reason to live anymore.” It then went on to say that he would send a live feed of him hanging himself, while claiming that no-one cared if he died or not.

Demi Moore then asked the poster if he needed help, to which his reply was yes. In the meantime, Nia Vardalos from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” saw the post and got straight on to calling a suicide prevention facility, which then contacted the Florida police.

An officer was then dispatched to the tweeter’s home, where they found him crying at his computer. The youth – who apparently suffers from OCD – has now been placed in protective custody. Moore took to Twitter again after, saying “Thank you Twitterverse.”
