Social Media Marketing: Mainstream channel in 2010

There is much speculation that social media marketing will soon become a mainstream channel. Kevin Dendy, Commercial Director of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) recently spoke at the Technology for Advertising and Marketing event in London, noting that it’s growing in popularity as a way of communicating with customers.

He stated that the DMA was focused on getting involved in social media and added that one of their main aims for this year was digital campaigns. Mr. Dendy also noted that direct marketing also had a part to play, incorporated with social media campaigns.

A Unica study recently showed that 50% of companies have already switched on to the idea of digital media and a further 25% are ready to jump on board throughout this year.
