Barclays.net Down, Trojan Virus Affecting Smart Cards

Many customers are not too happy at the moment because Barclays.Net is currently unavailable, when you try to open the website all you will see is an error message saying the service is basically down. Also a warning message has been put out on the website about a Trojan Virus affecting Smart Cards.

At first there was a warning message upon opening Barclays.Net, which said, “This is either as a result of a technical problem which is being investigated or to carry out planned maintenance work. Please contact our client support team on: Barclays.net Client support team 0845 878 7052 (UK), 1-855-207-3506 (US free toll), +44 1606 563032 (non UK non US), 0860004275 (Republic of South Africa).”

Now there is a new message saying, “Attention – Fake Gemalto eSigner Update Installs Trojan Virus. A new Trojan virus is targeting users of Smart Cards by offering an update to the eSigner software.” (Click the link above to see message).

Not only is the website down other users have reported on social media networks that they are having issues trying to login. One customer said that the house they are buying is completing today but because Barclays is having issues money has not gone through.

Complaints are coming in fast over on the official Barclays Twitter Help page, they are aware of the issues they are having with its systems and are under urgent investigation.
