The what some may call the Facebook lottery scam was basically a by-product of Mark Zuckerberg’s lovely announcement that he and his wife are giving away around $45 billion significance of their stock to the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, they say this is a small contribution to help others – read the full announcement here.

It works out that Zuckerberg is going to be putting 99pc of his shares away to allow him to give money away, but people believed it would be them that could get a piece of the money. By copying and pasting the message (shown above) onto peoples Facebook walls they thought they would be within a chance of the billions of dollars. Social media users thought they would get some of the money if they did this, but there was no indication of Mark Zuckerberg giving away money randomly to the general user.

Thousands of people apparently saw the Facebook shares giveaway hoax on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” but it was then announced it was just a hoax and ABC reported Zuckerberg was going to donate $45 billion to charity.
