Investigations are underway after racial abuse and death treats were tweets about Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck. The one mainly being investigated is the racist tweet posted after Arsenal’s 2-1 FA Cup win against Manchester United.
But fans were not too pleased with the former Manchester United player after Arsenal won; the tweet is apparently too harsh to publish (The Tweet has been removed). But the racist tweet was pointed at striker Danny Welbeck.
Members of the public reported the abusive tweet to the Greater Manchester Police, reports BBC. The police are now trying to track down the person who posted the tweet on Twitter.
Fans of Welbeck were clearly not happy, but the vile tweet is not good at all according to the majority on social media sites. It wasn’t all bad because United fans actually clapped the former Man U star when he was substituted.
The Manchester Evening News reports, “The tweet GMP are investigating was made by @AngelsLeftFoot and contains several outrageously racist words.”
Other tweets that come in said someone should kill Welbeck. Racist remarks and death threats are taken seriously; tweets like this will be removed and then investigated.
