Oscars 2015 and College Football dominates Twitter TV ratings

The Nielsen Twitter TV ratings are in for 2015, and the two that topped in at number one for Twitter TV ‘Series and Specials’, and ‘Sports Events’ between (2/16 – 2/22) were the Oscars and College Football.

The Oscars (ABC) on 22 Feb 2015 with a unique audience of 13,019,000, which also had 801,272,000 impressions, 1,438,000 unique authors and 5,923,000 tweets.

Number 1 for sports events was College Basketball, North Carolina at Duke (ESPN – 2/18/15) with unique audience of 6,203,000, 74,819,000 impressions, 248,000 unique authors and 686,000 tweets.

It was the 87th Annual Academy Awards, which aired on ABC on February 22nd that dominated the Twittersphere; even though this was the lowest ever score for the Oscars. Normally this show gets many more tweets, impressions etc.

When you look at 2014 numbers the Oscars hosted by Ellen DeGeneres had 30% more Twitter impressions and 88% more tweets. Maybe they should bring back Ellen next year. Do not change what works people, surely that makes sense, only and only if ratings drop the drop the host.

In second place on the weekly top ten series and specials Nielson Twitter TV Ratings was Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute. In second place on the Nielson Twitter TV Ratings for weekly top ten sports events was 2015 Daytona 500.
