Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan doesn’t particularly like Twitter but he has finally sent his first tweet. After saying he didn’t like Twitter because it was like a knife in the hand of a murderer he never tweeted a single thing until yesterday.
@RT_Erdogan is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan official verified Twitter account an until yesterday he never tweeted a single thing, the account was opened back in 2009 and now has 5.72 million followers, most of the tweets are to do with phrases from speeches made by Erdoğan.
No one knows who was looking after the Twitter account, but it is common knowledge Erdoğan never personally tweeted because he said he had a disliking to Twitter. It was in 2014 when Turkey blocked Twitter with Prime Minister Erdoğan stating he would wipe out Twitter altogether there.
The President of Turkey has finally tweeted (Screenshot below), which translated says “Today is Feb. 9, World Quit Smoking Day. Be strong-willed and do not surrender to a cigarette,” and this comes after he shared a few other tweets to do with smoking-related deaths.
February 9 is recognised as “World Quit Smoking Day,” with May 31 being “World No Tobacco Day.”
