Serena Williams is quickly chasing Steffi Graf, after being only second to her on the list of major winners in the Open period after beating Maria Sharapova.

This is Serena Williams 19th Grand Slam title win, which sees her continuing her epic run now in six Australian Open finals. The game was interrupted by rain, but 13 minutes later the game resumed where in the first set she smashed it with an ace to move ahead with six straight points. Sharapova provided William’s with three break points with another double fault.
Williams powered 18 aces with one reaching 203 kmh, Sharapova had to hold serve with Williams up 5-4, holding off championship point with a distressed forehand down the line.
Maria Sharapova was a true sportsperson by saying she congratulates Serena Williams in making history, by playing some of her best tennis. She also said it was a great honor playing her according to The Guardian.
